Short drive to Medicine Bow National Forest

This weekend we took a short drive to the the Medicine Bow National Forest, locally referred to as the Snowy Range. Yes, we did find snow in the mountains in May. The drive was pleasant, though we had to watch out for any animals on the road, especially near Centennial, WY. We started from home around 11 am so the temperature was mild and it wasn't windy. We stopped at a few spots during our climb on the mountains. The first stop was at the tourist information area just as we entered Snowy Range, shown in the first photograph. The next stop was near the Snowy Range Lodge, see the second photograph, where there was plenty of snow and plenty of people with their trucks hauling snow mobiles. The roads were not maintained past this spot so after spending some time here we decided to turn around and return.

The Outback handled the winding roads well and I got to put the car in neutral and coast as we drove down the mountains.
