This was a short but very useful trip with the Outback. I saw an advt. for a futon and decided to check it out with my wife. The seller had already disassembled it. When we decided to buy the futon, I thought it may not fit in the Outback and was planning to borrow a truck. The student said that she could move it for me. I saw that she had the older and smaller Outback (2009). I figured that if she was going to tie the futon mattress on the roof, I could try and see it it will fit in my bigger Outback. So we gave a shot and it swallowed the futon mattress along with the supports. It was nice to find out that it could pack big stuff. Here are some pictures:
